1974 Graham Single Harvest Tawny (bottled 2021)

1974 was a fine harvest but produces struggled to get sufficient glass to bottle a declared vintage due to the revolution. As a result, some extremely good wines were held in wood and matured as colheitas; this being one such example. This was bottled in 2021 and is bottle number 522 from cask 1.

Light olive-brown colour, 20% opaque. Sweet perfumed caramel on the nose. Rich entry, sweet and fragrant but with a slight thickness to the texture. Toasted sugar on the edges of the palate, lime oil in the centre. Rich, yet very well balanced, flavours which happily fill the mouth. Gentle yellow fruit aftertaste and a lingering fruit finish. A lovely wine that is certainly not shy to show off its attractiveness. 93/100. Tasted 02-Nov-21. Opened for 5 hours.
