Decanted at 22.00 the night before the tasting. Dark red, 90% opaque. Clear, clean nose, refined and elegant with a lovely sweet and ripe blackcurrant. Delightful texture, lovely blackcurrant fruit - big and full of dark chocolate. This is a big, big Port; rich and providing such a big mouthful of flavour and texture. An aftertaste and long finish of black wine gums highlights the poise and balance of this astonishingly pure wine. 95/100. 16-Nov-21. Decanted 23 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
