NV Churchill Reserve Ruby

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Churchill Reserve Ruby, a deep and black-tones Ruby red; 90% opaque. Raspberry and bramble nose, like the summer berries Mrs B puts on her early morning porridge. Lovely smooth bramble comes through on the palate, a palate which is elegantly constructed with good fruit, faint tannins and refreshing acidity. Good presence which lasts well. The tannins really show up - but not aggressively - on the aftertaste before the ripe and fragrant bramble takes over and settles onto the palate for several minutes. This is a thoroughly enjoyable reserve Ruby. 88/100. Decanted 1½ hours. Drunk 26-Oct-21.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
