NV Ramos Pinto Quinta da Ervamoira 10YO
This 10 year old tawny is the only 10 year old currently sold by Ramos Pinto and is a single quinta wine with all the grapes coming from Quinta da Ervamoira. The vines used are relatively young, about 40 years old. The wine is bottled unfiltered and unfined, has an average age of about 12 years old and includes some wines which are around 25 years old. This is a deep, dark brick-red colour, 90% opaque. It shows treacle and dried vine fruit on the nose. Light and deft entry with a good freshness to the palate. Dark sugar and a nice acidity give a good balance. The aftertaste is wonderful, rich and dark honey and a hint of fragrant lime. Tasty. 90/100. Open 1 hour. Tasted 25-Nov-2021.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Perhaps worth noting that the young age of the vines is because the vineyard was only planted in the 1970s! I wonder if it has changed much over the years as they get older?
