The first of a few bottles obtained from VWP.
Proper driven cork, although quite short (approx 38mm). Popped & poured.
Not surprisingly still very dark - maybe 100% opaque? - no discernible fading at rim although does highlight the deep purple colour.
Lots of primary fruit on the nose, especially cherries. Possibly a bit of spice as well.
In the mouth, very soft (some tannin, but nicely in balance). Acidity is a bit higher than I might choose. Taste is similar to the smell. Fairly long.
It’s OK. Might improve over the next few days. Will report back if it does.
No rush to drink, but not sure if it’s going to get much better in the bottle.

Re: 2013 Palmer LBV (unfiltered)
At +48hrs hasn’t improved, indeed now showing an unwelcome bitter aftertaste.
Will finish up over the next day or so.
My conclusion remains that there’s no particular rush to drink these up, but they’re unlikely to improve, and once open finish within a sitting.
3/7.
