I have had it added to my calendar and shall bring the Vau as well as whatever else is needed. Simply let me know in due course.
Excellent. I'll update the attendees.

Turns out I now don’t have the Sandeman. Upon delivery turned out to be 77 rather than 97 as it had been incorrectly landed in the warehouse. Normally would obviously have been happy about this but already have as fair bit of the 77 and none of the 97. So was returned.

Don’t think anyone else has suggested they’ve got this, so we probably won’t be able to do the comparison with the Vau.

Also, suspect that by mid January holding this tasting in person might be an issue, but we’ll see what happens…

@ nac - Tonight is going to be my last chance to access my cellar before 20th January. What's the view? What should I bring back to town with me tomorrow (on a precautionary principle in case we go ahead)?

So, it’s just over two weeks until this tasting.

Given current COVID concerns, do attendees want to go ahead with this or should we push it back until later in the year?

I’m happy to go ahead with it, but appreciate that some might be less enthusiastic, so would prefer to postpone if it means we get full attendance at a later date.

Please respond in the thread or email or PM.

I'm getting a bit of pressure to no attend this event along with a few other things in Jan.

therefore my vote would be to push back but i would completely understand if you where all to go ahead,

I know that i have GC, G, D, Ni, SW, will have a look to see if there is anything else, when i can do.

I have put plans in place so I can attend so I'm happy to go ahead but if the majority want to push it back I'm happy to do that.

I'd prefer to stick to the date planned. As Mike says, it's a really tough time for the hospitality trade at the moment so any little we can do to help would be good.

If we do decide to push back the date of the 1997 tasting, perhaps a smaller group could meet up at the planned time and date for a “bring a bottle” dinner.

A few people have expressed a preference to delay the 1997 tasting, and this combined with the fact that I’m sure someone else will actually drop out, makes it likely that we’ll end up a bit short-handed. As such, I’m going to postpone.

I’ll advise of a new date shortly.

However, as per Alex’s suggestion, I propose that those of us who are still available and are happy to attend use the slot to meet for a “bring a bottle” dinner.

I’ll open a separate thread for this, but obviously existing attendees have priority

I suspect that this might be better suited to the Green Room (assuming it’s available) but I can sort that out later.

Have you any idea what bottle(s) you would like me to contribute to the 1997 tasting, whatever the new date? I am anyhow coming to London on the 20th and would do well to leave the bottles for the later tasting if somebody is prepared to take same. I need anyhow to deliver that old tawny on the day.

Of course; I shall bring both on the 20th, along with the very old tawny. Alas, I shall miss the alternative event beyond dropping off the bottles at the B&F. I can leave them with the staff or, if anyone is going to knock up early, hang about for a couple of jars. I would simply need to thin out by 1900. With a fair wind from LHR, I could be at the pub by 1730 or certainly 1800.
