On Tuesday 16th November 2021 a horizontal of 1994s was held at the Boot & Flogger, initially arranged by JDAW, a responsibility subsequently borne by AHB.

Graham with original cork

Opened to Audouze at 22.45 the night before the tasting. A bottle with an original cork. A lone bottle acquired in October 2011 from Wadebridge Wines.

The neck of the bottle had to be warmed gently in the steam from a kettle for a minute or so to facilitate the easy removal of the cork.

Decanted at 08.45. Will be returned to the bottle shortly before leaving for the local train station.

Fairly pale colour.

Long aniseed finish.

Not impressing me tonight.

65% opacity, dark red. Jammy red fruit on the nose. Bit jammy and flabby, red fruit, finish muted. Not what was expected.

Jammy nose with a hint of mint. Big fresh fruit bomb in the mouth. Some points from me.

Opened at 22.45 the night before the tasting, decanted at 08.45, returned to the bottle at 14.15 and drunk at 20.50.

A lovely brick red colour with a wide rim. Some baked fruit on the nose, bringing the sweet / sour nature of rhubarb to mind. Smooth texture on the palate with the mild bake also showing on the fruit on the palate. This bottle is less evolved than the bottle tried at the Library Stock launch party on 02-Nov-21 and is not showing as well balanced. Lots of dried fruit - raisins and cherries - but just a little too baked. Fresh and still a bit closed. 90/100. 16-Nov-21.
