2017 Quinta do Crasto

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Quinta do Crasto 2017: bought from the Rose Inn, Wokingham @ £7 for 50ml. Poured from a bottle opened (but not decanted) 2 days ago. Deep purple with a narrow rim. Ripe blackcurrant on the nose, fragrant with just a little sharpness to give interest. Smooth texture entry, lovely balance with generous acidity highlighting the ripe and fragrant fruit. Toasted tannins show off the lovely ripe fruit very nicely, building up the lavender perfume. Huge blackcurrant aftertaste with a very good dark chocolate finish. Stunning length. This is a lovely young medium-bodied Vintage Port which will cellar beautifully for 2-3 decades. 88-90/100. 15-Nov-21. Decanted 3 days.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
