1977 Justerini and Brooks

Post by nac »

From an unopened 12 bottle OWC purchased from J&B's broking list, so possibly with them since release.
Bottles in excellent condition. Into neck, no signs of seepage, perfect labels. Labels say shipped by Smith Woodhouse.
Cork in fairly good condition and clearly stamped "JUSTERINI 1977 VINTAGE". Lots of heavy sediment.
80% opaque, with some slight browning to rim.
Fresh nose; plenty of red fruit and possibly a bit of menthol; not overly developed.
In the mouth, all in balance. More developed than nose with much less fruit.
Very much liked.
Given the amount of sediment and colour now this must have been massive on release.

A post from 2014 - http://theportforum.com/viewtopic.php?p ... ini#p72192 - suggests that this is Gould Campbell rather than Smith Woodhouse.

The cork on this one definitely doesn't say "Gould Campbell". Makes no mention of shipper.
