I'll bring the OBV, then. I've not got round to trying it before as it will be from an unopened OWC in the cellar . I'm happy to bring one of my other bottles by prior arrangement. I'm assuming for this vintage we'll all be following the double decanting guidance?

@ Screagle - great, the OBV. How exciting to be breaking open an OWC for it! I do not know the double decanting guidance, but, yes, a double decant on the morning of the tasting is indicated.

As of November, I had Ferreira, Ramos Pinto, Graham, Fonseca, Infantado, Pocas Junior, Burmester, Calem, Borges (to my shame), Taylor, Rebello Valente, Niepoort, Gould Campbell and Kopke Sao Luiz. What would you like me to bring?

Gents, work is ramping up at the moment, which is unfortunately at odds with plans to take days off to come up to London. I'm going to have to drop out of this one, but if things become calmer I may be able to join late on if there are any last minute cancellations. My apologies.

Please promote DaveRL from the subs bench!

George, my apologies, I now need to bow out of this one. Disappointed, as I was keen to get a reading on the '85s and get a view on some piurchases.

Sorry about all of the chaos my end and only just replying to this. After sadly letting you all down and missing the last 2 events at the last minute (which is very bad form) I'm very looking forward to this one.

Please can I bring as an extra a Magnum of Taylor's 85 (so that we can compare to the bottle) plus one of the other options of Warre's (bottle or Mag), Dow's, Taylor's, Fonseca, Calem, M. Gonzalez, Smith Woodhouse, Gould Campbell, Grahams, Cockburn, Churchill, Infantado (I only have one of these and was going to save it for the 40 or 50 year tasting)

Sadly I have to drop off the reserves list. My elder son has just told me that we are going to Leeds Uni to look around the Engineering dept that day. This is a good thing, it will be fun, but the timing sucks. We went round Bristol Uni Engineering yesterday, and he let me know much earlier for that one. Hope the tasting goes well, and all the Ports show marvellously.

Have been trying for a while to get him to attend. Initials are JB (he's a Julian, mathematician, and Cambridge).

no porblem with the SW.

I don't think that Croft is on the list, I think that I have a case of it somewhere, I have move a few things in the cellar to check if it is needed.

Please don’t. Croft 1985 is virtually undrinkable. We once sent back two bottles at one of Davy’s branches because it was pure VA.

At least your son is more forward looking than mine. Mine said something along the lines of “Dad. I’ve accepted an offer from Cardiff. Can you take me to look at the University please?”

@ nac - I have assigned JB the Churchill at the usual nominal £45.

@ all - I have now tidied up the attendance list, my apologies for being slow in doing that. We are currently 13 and have 16 ports lined up. I would quite like us to have a 14th person, if anyone has a candidate.

George,

I am so sorry, but I'm going to make the numbers problem worse and not better. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it on the 16th. I think I was in denial about how busy I was likely to be with the BFT, hoping against hope that I would be able to take an evening out of the frenetic preparations but that's not to be.

Apologies everyone, I won't be with you on the 16th.

Alex

Hi All,

I’m Ken - jdaw1’s guest for next week, where I hope my lack of a refined palate, and lack of knowledge of port won’t be to much of an embarrassment to him!

Anyway, please may I order:
Starter: duck liver pate
Main: medium rare steak, with chips and carrots

Thanks,
Ken

I've recently popped an SW85 - it was unimpressive for the first two days but then found composure, so a super long decant recommended..
