1963 Berry Brothers

Post by winesecretary »

1963 Berry Brothers (Taylor)
Full red colour. Gloopy texture. Palate full of warm spicy red fruit. Really lovely, as it does not have the distinctively spirity note which so often mars the Taylor 1963. Gorgeous port in super condition.

My WOTN, the group's #4 in a close race for top four.

Consumed 2/2/22.

Taylor. Deeply coloured, rich and mature appearance; 20% opaque. A gentle nose of fruit and orange zest, sweet and delicious. A lovely balance on entry; a pepper mid-palate showing plenty of heat - but sweet, despite the heat. Dried fruits on the aftertaste and a gently heated long aniseed finish. Mature and delicious, this is fabulous mature Port. 91/100. Tasted 02-Feb-22. Decanted 2½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

35% opacity, mature fading red. Dusty cherries on the nose. Lovely mouthfeel, soft, rounded and syrupy. Dusty cherries, great balance.
