1980 Royal Oporto

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Very light in colour, a pale orange which is 20% opaque - almost the same appearance as a 10YO or 20YO White Port! Very gentle on the nose, some light orange blossom honey, very restrained. Sweet and gentle entry, a lovely orange honey with a surprisingly good palate presence. Lots of orange and lemon marmalade. The real surprise was the delicious finish. Known to be 1980 but shipper withheld, this was guessed to be Croft Roeda. 89/100.
Drunk 26-Apr-22. Decanting time not noted.

30% opacity, copper-amber. Rich, open nose, candy and oranges. Soft and smooth entry, sweet dryness, oranges.
