2009 Harrods LBV

Post by winesecretary »

Bottled for Harrods by SFE. Marked 'selected by Dow's'.

20% vol

Popped on Saturday night so 48 hrs for the 90% remaining to breathe.

90% opaque, purple rim.

Exuberant fruity nose - blueberry. Palate very much sequentially blackberry and then black cherry dominated, before becoming distinctly drier on the finish (blind, I might think this was a Dow from a slightly disappointing vintage). Long aftertaste of Darjeeling tea and BlackBerry and Apple Crumble.

More than merely quaffing port.

A testament to the remarkable keeping powers of port - albeit unopened, this has been in a sideboard in a centrally-heated house in Billingshurst since 2016.
