GM86. Dark dark red, 95% opaque. Nose has eucalyptus, red fruits, and dark plums feels like a giant brooding in his cave. Palate mid+ weight, very very smooth, so soft (Ck96, p36, “it slithers down”), aniseed, large Porty fruits, a moment of heat mid-palate, and great length. Late some pip bitterness shows. This is — technical term for Port aficionados — proper yummy.

But you have failed to provide us with the most important snippet of information - where did these bottles come from? Were they extracted from the racks of Balmoral castle? Or were they brought up from the depths of the Titanic? Do share!

I'm a big fan of the '86. I won a case of it a few weeks back and I pick it up this Thursday.
It's such a smooth Port. I have a few bottles of the '87 as well, but haven't tried one yet.
A few Port drinkers over here in NJ might be doing a Malvedos vertical in the next year. Right now we
have '84, '86. '87, '88, '90, '92, '95 and '04. I hope to pick up a few more years before then.

After the rain disrupted our plans to go to watch cricket, I met JDAW at his house to deliver some olive oil. That gave me the chance to take part in the Emergency Malvedos Vertical that he posted about further up this thread.

Decanted 1 day. A wonderful nose! Proper yummy Port. Full of crushed berries yet with a superb floral perfume. Really rises out of the glass well. The fruit is just as good on the palate, sweet and ripe yet despite the age with tannins and a lovely acidity. The ripeness and poise of the fruit is fabulous, youthful yet with plenty of secondary tones. Aniseed Balls on the aftertaste, then a long cherry finish. This is truly lush and delicious. 93/100.
