Just spotted the case of 12 bottles of the GM86. What a nice catch!
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Thanks Alex. I've had them before and they're very good. They came up at auction and there were no bids so I got them at a very attractive price. The bottles are in pristine condition. I sold a few to a fellow FTLOP member here in Jersey that has tastings from time to time.

Thought I'd share this as pretty sure some readers will be interested...

Not Port, but have just placed en primeur order for Chryseia 2019 via The Wine Society - £130 for 3 bottles in bond. This is the first time they've offered Chryseia EP.

Orders need to be in by midday on 21st.

Way to go Justin-sounds as though you cleared the shelves!

I clearly live in a deprived area (of Port) as my local Sainsbury’s no longer stocks the Crusted☹️

Not even a shelf label at my local Sainsbury's, just the Malvedos. The nearest one I can think of that might range Graham's Crusted is Camden but given the location I expect it will have been cleared a while back - still at £10 might be worth a look. Another possibility might be Hendon.

Failing that I could easily take ten @ £10 cash if somebody want the Nectar points. I can collect from London so please PM if you can help me out...

Cockburn 1974? As not featured in the book. Pls send me details: high-res picture of bottle and cork; provenance; judgement about whether fake. Thank you.

I thought the producers had to declare a vintage within a certain period of time? I take it that doesn't mean said vintage needs to come to market though.

How is it?

Yes, definitely. Cockburn 1977 became an official declaration in, ooh, about 2017.

To be factually correct. The Syms didn’t “find” bottles in the cellar. The stocks being stored by the previous owners were known and included part of the purchase price, as with everything else when one buys a large business.

When was this bottle bought and where is a better question?

1977 Cockburn was a special case because the "secret" was so widely known. Without that common knowledge of its existence, and the circumstances surrounding it, there is little doubt in my mind that they would not have been allowed to "declare" it so late.

I helped Miguel Corte-Real drink his last two private cellar bottles of the not-yet-declared 1977 Cockburn, and our group talked about the early 1970s leading up to 1977 in great detail. He didn't mention a 1974 at that time.
