1980 Warre

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A much darker red colour than any of the previous Ports, closer in tone to the 1994 than any of the older Ports. Opaque centre and a narrow rim. Such a wonderful nose, blending sweet black cherry fruit with esteva and floral perfume. The black cherry fruit and firm charcoal tannins flow on to the palate; the fruit is amazingly primary considering the wine’s age. An astonishing coffee tone settles in with the black cherry dusted with cinnamon. Young, odd but just simply delicious!  93/100. 01-Dec-22 at Berry Brothers' replacement for the Port Walk.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
