1980 Warre

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Served blind.

Warre 1980, decanted 5½ hours. Young colour, dark red with some evolution in the tone. A little baked on the nose, some concentrated fruit (like the burnt bits of a fruit pie). Languid and full of fruit, with great grip. Rich and opulent fruit, slightly dry but with a wonderful full mouthfeel. Served blind, was guessed to be Dow 2003.  92/100. Drunk 16-Oct-22 from the fabulously beautiful but fabulously fragile Spiegelau Definition white wine glass.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
