1975 Warre

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From Tappit Hen. Opened at 20.15 the day before lunch, decanted at 08.15 and drunk at 15.45. A little lighter and more evolved than the D63 from magnum tasted alongside this wine; 60% opaque. Toffee and red apple on the nose, soft and gently fragrant. Smooth caramel and rose water on the palate - soft, sweet and full of nectar. The flavours swirl softly around the mouth. Redcurrant reduction finish, long and persistent. This is not a big, burly style of wine but is so elegant and has that wonderful Warre finesse. 92/100. Drunk 15-Sep-22. Decanted 7½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
