2017 Taylor LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A sample tasted at the Taylor Lodge tasting room after a quick (audio guided) tour round the Lodge.

Soft nose of fresh raspberry. Raspberry palate with a gentle violet overtone. Nice tannins grip gently. The aftertaste shows a little menthol heat but this settles slowly to allow a dark chocolate to settle in. Pleasantly drinkable. 85/100. Tasted 18-Jun-22.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
