1934 Fonseca

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Fonseca 1934. Unknown UK bottler. Brick red colour, 60% opaque. Warm raspberry jam and cloves on the nose. So sweet and spiced on the palate. Fully resolved tannins allowing the fruit to highlight the cloves and mace. Lovely balance to the palate, so expressive and elegant. Exquisite is the only word which can sum up this palate. The aftertaste shows a dry liquorice core to the candied red fruit, leading in to a gentle red liquorice finish. A lovely wine - so expressive and elegant.  98/100. Consumed 19-Dec-22.
