NV Dow Tawny 40YO (bottled 2019)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Dow 40yo tawny, bottled 2019. A wine I love; it brings back wonderful memories of our picnic lunches together at Casa dos Ecos with a bottle of this wine bought from the Bomfim shop. A lovely dark honey colour, 50% opaque. Sweet on the nose with honey, dates and vanilla. So smooth on the palate! Honey cake flavours, dosed with tangerine and with a great core of gentle acidity on the late palate. Some burnt sugar on the aftertaste, charred orange peel and a long crème brûlée and orange caramel finish. So delicious!  94/100. 30-Jan-23. Open 2 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
