2017 Quinta do Infantado

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

An incredibly dense purple colour with only the tiniest of rims. Sweet bramble fruit on the nose. Nicely balanced entry, the fruit quickly overwhelmed by the tannins on the mid-palate. The tannins and acidity overwhelm the fruit and provide a massively powerful wine. The green tannins dominate the aftertaste and long finish. Eventually this wine will settle into a good balance, but it’s made in an old-fashioned style and will take 2-3 decades.  88/100. Tasted 17-Jan-23. Decanted 2 hours.
Top Ports in 2022: Quinta do Noval Nacional 1931. I have never drunk such a wonderful bottle of Port. I cried with joy.

2023: Fonseca 1966. There are not many better Ports.
