1997 Quevedo Colheita (bottled 2022)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

1997 colheita, matured in cask for several years. Slightly more brick tone to the colour, a little lighter in intensity. A little more restrained on the nose than the wine matured in the tonel, but with a similar spiciness. Smooth on the palate, gentle with the tannins a very fine charcoal. Dried fruit, dried apple, rich and full of spice. A wonderful rich wine with a fabulous acidity giving a great structure. Delicious long aftertaste and finish of orange and caramel. Lovely, more rounded and smoother than the tonel matured version but less intense. 91/100. 30-Jan-23. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
