1987 Warre Cavadinha

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

WC87, decanted 1 day. Very dark red with an opaque centre. Fresh black fruit on the nose, sweet blackcurrant and a lovely crushed green leaf. Smooth texture, youthful, bramble and milk chocolate with plenty of tannin left in the wine to give a firm grip. Well balanced on the palate with bags of fruit and plenty of acidity. The aftertaste is full of the delicious bramble jelly with just the right amount of slightly woody liquorice root. What a delightful Port. 92/100.

Tasted at the Warre Cavadinha Vertical on 28th March 2023.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

WC87. Dark dark dark red, 80% opaque. Slightly hollow, but lots of black fruit.

55% opacity, deep red. Rich fruity nose, molasses. Lovely chewy molasses. Great sweetness.
