1995 Warre Cavadinha

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

WC95, decanted 1 day. Deep red with a wide rim. Delicious nose, full of bramble and black cherry. Black cherry on the palate, full of fruit with a second wave of dark chocolate tannins - really very impressive. The tannins calm a little on the late palate, allowing the black fruit to flow across the mouth. A little menthol heat on the aftertaste quickly goes to reveal the black cherry and dark chocolate finish. Fabulous Port, delicious today but will be better in a decade or two. 93/100.

Tasted at the Warre Cavadinha Vertical on 28th March 2023.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

WC95. Dark dark red, 90% opaque. “Yuck.”

Delighted that Alex’s sample, a day later, was so improved.
