2011 Dalva LBV (bottled 2017)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Dalva 2011 LBV, bottled in 75cl in 2017. Pop and pour. An amazing dark red, with elements of purple remaining in the colour; opaque with a narrow rim. Bold fruit, beautifully ripe yet with plenty of acidity; juicy and very floral. Dark cherries and black chocolate. Fabulous aftertaste, long and so delicious with an everlasting black cherry. Really very good, showing the incredible quality of the vintage. It will be interesting to see how the wine develops with more time in the decanter.

An hour in the glass allows the tannins to show a little more, but these are fine, black chocolate and hang around for ages on the finish. 90/100. Tasted 29-May-23. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
