Sometimes you roll the dice and they all come up sixes. So it was on a warm evening last week which saw me in the right place at the right time to taste some absolutely amazing Ports. Did these together make up the Greatest Evening of Colheita Tasting the World has Ever Seen? Perhaps, but it was certainly quite a special night.
Graham Ne Oublie 1882, bottled 2014: deep brown in colour with a narrow mahogany rim. A little less on the nose than the Taylor 1896 tasted alongside, but the nose is warm and incredibly inviting and just so rich! More elegant and less honeyed in texture than the 1896. Wonderful on the palate; exquisite with generous acidity. Honeyed fruit on the aftertaste, fruit which lingers and delivers helping after helping of sheer loveliness. Having 6 of these wines side by side just makes you weep with joy. 99/100. Drunk 01-Jun-23. In the glass for ½ hour before this tasting note was written.

Wow - what a tasting. Just seen your other notes.

Fantastic Colheita with immense complexity. On tasting these amazing ports this had for me the best complexity. Color was blackish brown and you could detect a small rim. Lucious very long aftertaste and perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. Taste after honey and yellow fruits with a little bit of caramel. Brilliant! Again a port with mega concentration and a long life ahead!

Slightly more browning than the 1896 Taylor/Krohn
Still incredibly deep colour
Deep intensity of nose
Prunes on the nose, and rich dark fruits
Liquid fruit cake on the palate
