Cliff decided that we needed a Celebration of 1955, and volunteered many many bottles. Harry organised. Others were grateful. It started at lunchtime, on Tuesday 13th June 2023, at the Boot & Flogger.
The mature brick red colour has a nice depth to it, the colour giving a wine still 50% opaque. Slightly oxidised on the nose giving a bit of a plastic tone to the fruit. Thickened texture on the palate, rich and impressive with a great depth of flavour and no signs of the slight oxidation showing on the nose. Slightly bitter orange, grapefruit and brown sugar finish. Such a contrast between the disappointing nose and the impressive palate. 91/100.
Drunk 13-Jun-23. Decanted 14 hours.
