A lovely deep red colour, a mature appearance but with a wonderful rich and deep red that is about 70% opaque. Surprisingly subdued on the nose, showing only a little sweet and mature fruit. On the palate this wine has a fabulous balance, it's full of fruit but the fruit comes with just the right level of acidity and a fabulous bitter backbone - which all combine to create a fabulous and amazing mouthful. Fragrant fruit sings on the aftertaste and leads on to an amazing finish - rich, round and delicious. It's such a shame the nose was so hollow! 93/100. Tasted 13-Jun-23.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
