2005 Quinta do Noval Colheita (bottled 2023)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

An ex-cellars bottle drunk at lunch at Quinta do Noval with Patricia Bastos on the second day of our two night stay.

Bottled 2023. Served blind with chocolate mousse. Deep orange colour, clear, 60%. Wonderful biscuit nose, dried cherry and almonds. Cherry and almonds on the palate, almost like a liquid Bakewell Tart! A little baked Bakewell sits comfortably on the palate. Well balanced acidity counters the baked cherry flavours. This is just flaming delicious! Served blind was guessed to be a Colheita from the 1980’s. Was Colheita 2005. 92/100. Drunk 21-Jun-23. Decanted 1½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
