1995 Quinta do Vesuvio

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep dark red colour, smelling of flowers and dark cherries. Big fruit, tannins with a bite and a balance which is just fabulous. Black cherry and black liquorice finish, but there are so many more layers of flavour to this wine than my meagre description conveys. This is a big wine, full of fruit, compounded with youth yet still complex and with the power and punch to really carry it off. Great stuff! 93/100. Drunk 02-Feb-23. Decanted 4 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
