1991 Niepoort

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Niepoort 1991, decanted about 1 hour. Initially (pop and pour) unimpressive, but now getting better with time in the decanter. Now full of dried cherries, but sweet and a little undefined on the palate. Lovely lingering dried fruit finish. 87/100.

24 hours after decanting, this is still a satisfying glass of wine, mature fruit, gentle tannins, but lacks the complexity of a great year. 87/100. Drunk 12-Mar-23. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
