OK ... I've just spoken with the B&F and there is defiantly no Bearnaise sauce available .... and yes they have removed green beans and replaced them with spinach !!!

HOWEVER - they suggest we try ordering green beans in advance and they will see what they can do .....

That's a real shame, they've been fine with it for a long time as long as we ordered in advance. Ah well - thanks for trying; I've updated above to have peppercorn instead. Maybe we'll persuade them to bring it back onto the menu again one day, but no breath-holding.

Or just bring a jar of your own.

I did consider that option; my favourite if I don't make it myself is from Waitrose in fresh packet rather than a jar, but which freezes OK too - but I would not want to be rude.

I was going to wait until the evening to see whether I wanted anything else after my main; but I already know whether I want to watch 10+ people eating Welsh rarebit without me or not; I've updated above.

I think this is an excellent plan ... if they will not do green beans for me in advance I'm going to bring a bag of them for them to cook !!!

We have a late entry for this event in the shape of a bottle of ‘42

I’ve added this into the system but it’s increased the cost of the evening to £180 per head for 18 vintages.

If this does not work for you then please PM me

Julian – would you be so kind as to tweak your place settings for me ?
