uncle tom wrote: 08:34 Mon 08 Jan 2024Four flights of six bottles, two flights from the 2017 vintage and two from the 2018 vintage

Each flight compromising five young Turks - producers we rarely see as VP, bottling LBV with driven corks - and one reference bottle, a major well known brand, which may or may not be T stoppered.

The young Turks to be served fully sighted, the reference bottle blind, to see how many can guess it correctly.

After each flight attendees are asked to identify and retain the two glasses they found most impressive, which may or may not include the reference bottle, and either down or dump the remaining four.

From the final eight retained glasses, they are then asked to identify their six favourites, scoring from one to six.

Slightly different arrangements to our normal routine for placemats and scoring, I'm thinking I'll probably print each attendee a set of stickers they can put on the placemats to remind them of their retained glasses.
Placemats will be intricate. Tom — please reveal the twenty relatively unrecognised shippers, so that a first draft can be made and critiqued.

It isn’t obvious to me that this describes Late Bottled Vintage Port from small Quintas.

Did they make menu changes in the end? I was holding off after the previous post in this thread. Will take a look and confirm shortly.

They promised to email me the new menu when I made the booking, but that never materialised. Last night's fare looked largely unchanged from before.

Please confirm that this is Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, which has abbreviation ‘Nv’.

Separately, some new abbreviations will be needed, as asked in the Port brand abbreviations thread.

Current draft of the placemats (which were quite fiddly) added to the first post. Tom: please inspect — is this what you want?

I’ve changed two of the names, to Tecedeiras (no Q.) and Quinta Seara D’Ordens (minus a preposition). My guess is that you don’t care.

Edit: later, Q das readded to Tecedeiras.

Please drop me to the reserves list and I’ll let you know at the last minute if there’s a seat still free which I can fill.

Yes - the label has the last part in small print
I’ve changed two of the names, to Tecedeiras (no Q.) and Quinta Seara D’Ordens (minus a preposition)
On the label, Quinta das (smallish print) Tecedeiras (large print)

Although PV use the preposition de, neither the label nor the website for Seara D'Ordens does

Placemats look excellent - thanks.

One small snafu in the placemats. The first post mistakenly lists Ben R attending rather than Ben P, and this has carried through onto the placemats.

Hi Tom,
I’m listed as attending this but had asked to be put on the reserve list when the date changed. At the moment, I can’t make the new date so if I could be parked on the reserves that’d be great (I’m on holiday this week, so need to check when I get back what’s happened during my time off to see if I can come back down).
Thanks,
