35% opacity, dull red-brown. Over-ripe flabby nose. Red fruit, flabby, unbalanced with coarse tannins.

Ex-cellars bottle from Quinta do Cachão, courtesy of Miguel Perreira at a tasting organised by Tony Carter of Vintage Wine & Port.

Mature red with a slight brick tone. The typical baked and earthy nose of the vintage, very pronounced. Earthy fruit on entry and a big, tannic structure on the palate, baked fruit and plenty of it! Red raspberry fruit on the aftertaste with big tannins – ripe and delicious and a really nice raspberry finish. If the characteristic baked tone doesn't bother you, this is a lovely Port. 90/100. Tasted 23-Oct-19. Decanted 9½ hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
