D94: dark dark red, opacity not noted. Nose very strongly of lemon, so stringly that I checked neighbour’s glasses. Rich, great weight and texture, very lovely now, but the lemon was peculiar. I liked.

60% opaque, ruby + slight brown tinge to rim. Nose quite closed, maybe a meaty/savoury note. Some primary fruit on palate. OK+, 5/7, 0.5 points.

Very dark in colour, the darkest of all the wines at this 1994 horizontal at 95% opacity. Very restrained on the nose, but some work reveals some slightly sour blackcurrant fruit. The entry onto the palate is similarly restrained, but then the blackcurrant bursts into life on the mid-palate. A wonderful expression of fruit. Not noticeably drier in style than most other wines at this tasting, but the fruit is delightful and delivers an excellent black fruit gum finish. Wonderful Port, my second placed wine at this event. 96/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

70% deep red. Some green notes on the nose, and mint. Soft and silky. Cranberries, menthol, chocolate. Nice balance, though acidity not rampant.
