Re placemats, will anybody need more than one circle?
Julian, I plan to bring something that is not port but I hope to be at least interesting if not very enjoyable for the group, but I'm unclear if it needs a circle or can just be enjoyed aside from the main event.
Hi Rich

The criteria is bring a bottle so that would fit but since it's blind then it's going to make an already hard task even harder but I'll leave that call to you. Either way it should be on Julian's placemats

Cheers

Martin
Apologies, I should have been clearer. I'm planning on bringing an additional bottle that isn't port as well as my bottle of port, because I think this group might enjoy it. I don't plan to blind it because I don't think anyone would guess it (and I don't think there would be any fun in trying).

My food correct. A pedant might suggest that it should be “Alex (pommy42)” rather than “Pommy42 (Alex)”, and “BRPetrie” rather than “BRP”.

The placemats seem correct to me. If that is wrong, please say in what way.

Edit: I have been told that AH’s two bottles were missing. Fixed.

Martin/all. I am so sorry but I am going to need to withdraw from the tasting. Work requires me to be elsewhere during the evening. This is the first time I have cancelled and know it is not good form but this is just out of my control. If there are any costs I need to pick up due to the late notice then no problem. Very sorry again.

My bottle decanted at 9am today and then back into the original bottle at approximately 11am. ETA is expected to be before 6pm-for which I may therefore escape a berating!

Thanks Martin for organising and setting a theme that was definitely not mostly ignored. It was a fun evening and I am looking forward to a snooze on the way back to Bristol.

Fwiw the 2005 S-W Madalena was given about 6 hours in decanter before being re-bottled and stoppered yesterday. I might search out more of it on that showing.

Any chance of pictures of the Wine of the Night scores please?
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
