2000 Niepoort

Post by jdaw1 »

As organised by George G., on Monday 10th February 2025, Some of the usual folks gathered in the Boot & Flogger, for a horizontal of 2000s.

Woe betide! What has become of us‽ A horizontal of Port from this century. Yes yes, the world has other disasters afoot, but this disaster is afoot here: what has become of us‽

Ni00. Dark dark dark red, 95% opaque. Soft black fruit, white spice, and a touch of exotic lychee.

Fabulous lifted touriga nacional nose. Rich fruity palate. Balance, balance, balance. Really liked this.

Ni00: Dark in colour, almost opaque. Slightly astringent soapy nose. Lovely palate, sweet and ripe black fruit - rich and wonderfully ripe. Black cherry finish, a little icing sugar sweetness. Lovely wine. 89/100
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
