A pair of magnum decanters

Post by jdaw1 »

I don't know quite how it happened — it was all too fast. I went online to buy a present for a my son who is soon to finish GCSEs: eBay, I think it was. And then the doorbell rang. And three decanters were delivered, two of them magnums. It’s a mystery.

Whatever the explanation, this means that the pair of magnum decanters that I don’t love are, well, unloved. Pictures in next post.

This is obviously a job for ePortBay. Single lot, pair of square magnum decanters.

Behold the bidding increments.
  1. One bottle of Port, to be brought as an extra to a team event, not necessarily one at which I am present.
  2. As previous, plus bringing my bottle to a tasting at which I am present. They do not have to be the same tastings.
  3. As previous, plus an extra half bottle as an extra to a team event, not necessarily the same as the tastings to which the other 2 bottles are brought. The team-event bottles could be 1 + ½, or could be ½ + ½ + ½.
  4. As previous, plus an extra half bottle as an extra to a team event, not necessarily the same as the tastings to which the other 2½ bottles are brought.
  5. Ditto, +½.
  6. Ditto, +½.
  7. Etc.
Bidding closes 24 hours before delivery convenient — likely to be next tasting to which I and winning bidder are both going.

I would quite like these.
A decent bottle of wine will be forthcoming. 61 Rioja?

Damn and blast it! If only I wasn’t on a Scottish island and was due to be at a tasting in London with the seller in the next few hours I would have won!

Grrrrrrr 🤬
