Pleasingly high quality cork extracted with satisfying pop. Wine decanted clean until last couple of tablespoons which contained a thick sediment.
Four hour decant.
Colour a browning red, attractive.
Scent of rose hip and cherry pie.
Completely smooth and resolved entry, milk chocolate and raisin, hint of Turkish delight late, then drys out a little as the ghost of tannin keeps it correct. Finish quite dry, somewhat akin to Dow of the same vintage.
Really rather surprisingly good. And more than a little quaffable.

Colour a little browner
More cinnamon and star anise on the nose
Palate remains very smooth, and very much in the vein of best quality cough syrup.
Still eminently quaffable but, as port, better on night 1.
