They may have had them available for years, or it could be a recent addition; in either case if you were not already aware and find yourself passing through King's Cross with a desperate hankering for Pasteis de nata, the "little" Waitrose in the King's Cross station concourse has freshly baked ones available currently; crispy, light, fresh and delicious.

Re: Pasteis de nata, Waitrose, King's Cross
I really like Pasteis de nata.
Sadly, King's Cross' Waitrose has not had any on return from my last couple of London visits, so it has been ages...
Then in my local Waitrose I saw these:

I know that they are tricky to make well; the not-fresh ones that I've tried previously have been quite disappointing (especially the airport-purchased), and while delicious when well made, even some fresh shop bought have been poor. So when I saw these frozen ones in Waitrose, I was torn - it had been so long I could not resist, but I had strong expectations of major disappointment.
How wrong I was! Hurrah!
These are quite delicious and easy - direct from freezer for 15min in fan oven at 220C, 10mins resting on rack and they're delicious. My only issue is that the pack becomes empty too soon. Recommended.

We are lucky locally living in a 30%+ Brazilian community. Nata's are made daily at many stores.
We usually go for pão de queijo's instead. Just as good with port.

What does pão de queijo look like? Is it literally bread made with cheese in it?mosesbotbol wrote: ↑13:04 Sat 09 Aug 2025 We are lucky locally living in a 30%+ Brazilian community. Nata's are made daily at many stores.

Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Yes, it's a ball of bread with cheese and has tapioca flour mixed in. A lot of people buy them frozen and heat at home if the bakery is not convenient.Alex Bridgeman wrote: ↑23:40 Sat 09 Aug 2025 What does pão de queijo look like? Is it literally bread made with cheese in it?

I love pão de queijo (and pastéis de nata, of course). This is a good thread.
