2015 Sassicaia
Sassicaia 2015. Pop and pour. I was expecting a bit of a brute of a wine. Instead I got something rich and expressive with a glorious palate built around exquisite fruit. Very drinkable today because of the gorgeous balance, but the tannins and acidity that back up the purity of the fruit will give this wine a life of many decades. The aftertaste lasts minutes, and keeps reappearing just when you think it’s all over. Absolutely wonderful. 95/100.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
