1945 Constantino

Post by jdaw1 »

A zombie / in-law invasion needed to be escaped by one of us, and another proposed that the theme be ‘Vintage Port that you would like to drink if you had not Vintage Port for 7 months’. At the Boot & Flogger, on Monday 29th December 2025.

Cn45, dark red, 60% opaque. Smoke on nose. Palate of dark fruit, soft and smooth, some burnt rubber. Properly excellent. Mis-guessed to be Croft.

Unknown 1945 VP from Cliff Mee. Decanted 1 hour. Mature Rose red, slightly less opaque than the unknown 1955 served alongside. Stunning nose! So expressive, ramming cherry and lavender up the nose. Sweet and slightly candied fruit, sweet palate with a slight hint of bake. Rich and wonderful, just a touch of dryness on the aftertaste with an impressive finish dominated by the fruit. Lingering red fruit pastille finish. Such elegance in this delightful wine. 94/100. Guessed to be Warre 1945.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: DR Very Old White, Graham Stone Terraces 2011, Quevedo Branco 1986 b.2026
