From a case of six purchased en primeur from Laithwaites in 97/98ish. Cost bugger all at the time.

Opened 0900, decanted 1400, back in bottle at 1630.

ChAA95. A mature, brick-red colour, 50% opaque and probably the lightest looking of the wines at this tasting. Baked rhubarb on the nose with a slight hint of bottle stink. A little better on the palate, but rather hollow and light-bodied. A little redcurrant on the aftertaste and finish, but this is one of the lightest and most evolved Ports at this tasting. 87/100.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: DR Very Old White, Graham Stone Terraces 2011, Quevedo Branco 1986 b.2026
