1980 Fonseca. A light bronze colour having lost much of its pigment to become about 40% opaque. Nothing on the nose, and inoffensive on the palate with sweet redcurrant syrup balanced by a little green apple acidity. Nice green and red apple aftertaste before a red jelly finish of impressive length takes over. Not a blockbuster, by any means, but pleasant drinking. 84/100.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: DR Very Old White, Graham Stone Terraces 2011, Quevedo Branco 1986 b.2026
