I bought 6 bottles of a newly released (still unlabelled) 10 year old by a small producer called Mapa (the owner, Pedro Garcias, also writes a weekly article about wine in the Portuguese newspaper Público). Tasted it at lunch on Friday and it's quite good, more on the fruity side than on the caramel side. The wine has an average age of well over 10 years, so it's pretty good value.

Had half of a bottle (not a half bottle!) at last weeks online tasting and I still think there is a little left so should get four or five years of cheap (a litttle over €30 a bottle) everyday drinking.

Amazing price on the Bomfim! That's roughly $27 US. Unfortunately, Amazon can't sell wine or liquor in the U.S. The only place that is selling the 2014 Bomfim in the US per Winesearcher is selling it for the ridiculous price of $181.

IIRC it's a fine 10 Year Old Tawny. Gilbert's was once independent, but passed through the hands of Amorim (yes, the cork company) before now being owned by Sogevinus. I have a vague memory of an association with Barao de Vilar at one point, too, but am not certain about that.

Gilbert’s is decent but not a top tier producer. At that price a no brainer. If all else fails, will help make a good sauce.

That's cheaper than Morrison's 10YO Tawny which Mrs B drank copious amounts of during lockdown. At that price, it was well worth buying and drinking.

I love those proper Tappit Hen bottles.

I also love the Warre 1975 from Tappit Hen. It’s drinking really nicely at the moment (at least it was a couple of years ago when I last had it).
