i'll be seeing gman saturday night and can discuss then but is there still a spot left?

I need to be on the sober end of it, too; last time was way too much port for me.jfacciol wrote:I know that I am on the "sober" end of the spectrum, so I leave it to others to comment on whether a bottle plus a bit is enough.
I notice I'm down for two bottles (Graham's 83 & Dow's 85); if I bring two, one of them would need to be adopted. If its an issue of fairness next to the Nacionals, I'd suggest that -- while they are surely awesome wines -- perhaps they are overkill.jfacciol wrote:With Steph we are definitely eight. If Differentdave joins us, we are nine. So it sounds as if we do need the 1983 Warre or another 83/85 combo.
We've swapped out the warres with teh gould campbell...TBird wrote:i'm attempting to source the 83 warre, but if someone already has a double, i'd gladly purchase it.
I actually have the Dow's 85 on hand, the Graham's 83 I just saw in the shop but I'll need to go get it (will get two, one for the cellar and one for our tasting; and if people like it I'll know just where to get more!).g-man wrote:Bottles up for adoption now I believe the two Dows and the grahams 85?
1983 Graham's sourced and adopted by TBird.jfacciol wrote:The bottles up for adoption are the Graham 85 from Julian, one of Sushinorth's bottles, and the Dow 83 from me.
Heh, we're rather enthusiastic... but I've accepted I'm doomed. That sunday is August Moon, which means major gatherings, heirarchical squabbling, and vigorous activity.g-man wrote:Butt of the lion is easy, you just have to stand there and occasionally lift a leg, I've done more on worst =)
Please speak clearly. Are you coming or nay?SushiNorth wrote:I've accepted I'm doomed. That sunday is August Moon, which means major gatherings, heirarchical squabbling, and vigorous activity.
Oh, yes, of course I'm coming. I just mean the next day is going to hurt. I might need to take monday off to recoverjdaw1 wrote:Please speak clearly. You bet I'm attending! I'm making a trip to Rhode Island to pick up the Nacional this weekend.jfacciol wrote:It sounds like we are at ten. Is the Transiberian Express functioning (i.e., is Eric coming)?
I haven't seen a post from him in this thread for a while.
Ooh, those are good prices! I don't know if I will have a chance to go there, as I'm not staying long and am at the mercy of my hosts, but I'd definitely like to try to pick up some of the Ferreira if I can!g-man wrote:rhode island?!?!
stop by vickers in new port =)
1995 Cockburn Quinta Dos Canai 29.99
1980 Ferreira 29.99
2005 Quinta Dos Quatro Ventros Douro 21.99
2004 Quinta Dos Barcelados Bairrada Red 17.99
1982 Ramos-Pinto 26.99
Eric, that is a great idea as I am going to propose both a 1980 horizontal and a Ferreira vertical and I don't have the 1980.Ooh, those are good prices! Is this where we're at?jfacciol wrote:I don't see a confirmation that differentdave is attending or a confirmation that someone is adopting the 83 Dow from me.
It would help the planning if these issues could be straightened out.

Subir and molly are adopting the two remaining bottles.jfacciol wrote:I count two bottles for adoption and three folks coming without a bottle: Subir, Molly and differentdave. My suggestion is that whoever does not adopt a bottle put in $90.00 towards the two Nacionals.
No confusion, 10 bottles, 11 people is perfect, can you chip in for the Noval nacional? Especially since Steph is probably going to be driving a few of us home.differentdave wrote:If adopting a bottle or space becomes an issue I can bow out (which would be slightly odd cause at one point in time I was hosting this event)
Sorry for confusion and headaches guys.
g-man wrote:Also, would any of mind if I bring brown paper bags for a blind before we start taking notes?
Well, how about a compromise... Can we label the bottles A/B/C/D etc, and Jdaw, when you make the placemats can you include letters on them (DOW 1985 (F) )? Those who want to taste blind can do so with letters for their glasses, those who want to know what's what need only use their placemat.jdaw1 wrote:I have better than bags. But I prefer sighted: put aside your prejudice and judge the contents of the glass.
