1965 Krohn Colheita

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep brown in colour, with a green tinge on the rim. Slightly cloudy in appearance. Thick and rich nose, full of quince jelly and black treacle - promising a lot. Thick in texture. A big aftertaste of burnt sugar and a long and good finish. 87/100. Drunk 11 Feb 2010.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

I'm not sure I can remember ever having had molasses, but I really feel this is the word needed to describe this wine.

Dark brown color (weird). Pretty rich in the mouth, again with this caramelized walnut component that seems to be a bit of a running theme amongst the colheita crew. Pretty chewy tannins, and a nice finish, but really lacking in both deliciousness and complexity.
