1970 Warre vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

The darkest of all of the wines tasted on this evening. Quite closed on the nose, with some faint sweet redcurrant. Thick in texture, sweet entry with lots of Christmas cake spice and faint marzipan. Huge levels of complexity and layering. Sweet, warm and fruity aftertaste. An absolutely delicious port with a long life ahead of it. 92/100. Drunk 15 July 2010.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Dark, thick, delicious. I thought this was another very strong showing for this wine, if a tad below its performance at the election offline. Excellent wine. Could drink this all day. 90 points (WOTN)
