Anne here. I made my first post a week or so ago on a recent Taylor 1955 tasting notes post, but I thought I should avail myself of the opportunity to introduce myself properly here. I described myself on my first post as a long-time lurker, although that may have been a little misleading. I did join the site a couple of years back, but I had only checked in occasionally for a bit of mild browsing, and hadn't really started to get my teeth into reading heavily until this week. My goodness - what a wealth of port knowledge! I must confess I am slightly intimidated. Fortunately, you seem to be an exceptionally friendly bunch, and I hope to get along to a tasting at some point.
I have been coaxed onto these boards by the redoubtable jdaw1, whom I know from the world of tiddlywinks. A glorious game, indeed, though one which I was content to set aside after a mere two or so years of playing it as an undergraduate, when I realised that the only thing I actually enjoyed about it was the social side viz. the port and the exceptionally complex drinking games. Happily, I have now managed to keep up the "social side" alone for a good 15 years.
I am a Glaswegian by nature and a Londoner by geography. I'm very much looking forward to getting to know you all a little better, and - with your kind and astute guidance - the glories of port better still.
Cheers.

Ajva.
